What is post-press?
Post-press processing includes two parts; one is the post-press processing of books and periodicals, mainly the binding work of various books and magazines; the other is the surface finishing of the printed products, mainly including lamination, glazing, die-cutting, indentation, hot stamping, embossing, and other technical processes and equipment.
Lamination is one of the surface decoration processing technologies of printed matter. It is a processing technology that coats plastic film with adhesive and adheres to a paper published issues by heating and pressing to form a product. The covered printed matter has a smooth and bright surface, bright colors, and a strong three-dimensional effect. At the same time, because there is a layer of plastic film, it also plays the role of waterproof, anti-fouling, wear-resistant, and tensile-resistant.
The protective film should pay attention to several issues when laminating; one is the lamination temperature, the other is to prevent curling, and finally, the lamination effect should be paid attention to. Therefore, choosing the most practical or suitable laminating machine is critical.
The best choice on the market is the pre-coated laminating machine. The pre-coated laminating machine has many advantages, both energy saving and incomparable with traditional laminating machines in terms of laminating effect. Specifically, it is mainly manifested in:
1. The pre-coated laminating machine is laminating equipment with the most minor investment and the best effect;
2. Because the pre-coated laminating machine adopts an environmentally friendly laminating process and is simple to operate, less investment, and convenient to use, whether it is mass production or a small amount of lamination, it can be used with ease;
3. The laminating machine widely used in the market is a small laminating machine. Therefore, the market potential of small laminating devices is enormous, and products that use laminating machines for post-printing processing must have strong market competitiveness.
What is the present market situation for laminating machines?
As the pressure of competition in the post-press equipment market intensifies, due to the many changes in the external environment of the market, enterprises have to adapt to the trend of transformation and upgrading. However, to adjust the development direction of post-press equipment manufacturers, the quality of products is the basis for enterprises to stand on the market.
To improve the strength of post-press equipment manufacturers, they must pay attention to product quality. The product quality of laminating machines is a prerequisite for enterprises to achieve development and seize the market in any industry. Without solid product quality, the development of enterprises is complex; only top product quality can lead to leading flooring enterprises. In the face of market competition, the most effective way for post-press equipment companies to respond is to strengthen their confidence, improve their management level, reduce costs and improve efficiency. Only in this way can post-press equipment companies develop better and better. Therefore, from the perspective of Beijing post-press equipment companies, companies must continuously improve their competitiveness from their views if they want to win in the white-hot competitive market. Only by winning the favor of consumers in terms of product quality, etc., can an enterprise development in the long-term in the market.
What is the machine parameter of these laminating machines?
They're hydraulic laminating machines with oil heating and pulling off. We have three types of this machine: SWFM-520C, SWFM-720C, and SWFM-920C. The different number means different widths of the machine, and the other parameters are all the same. As you know, different width means the max paper size differs from each other. Their max paper size is 485mm、685mm, 、8850mm. Their operating speed is all 0—25m/min, and the laminating temperature is 50~120℃. Besides, the total power is all 4kw. On the contrary, the pressure of 520C is 3~6MPa, but the pressure of 720C and 920C is 3~8MPa. Finally their dimensions(L×W×H ) are respectively 2x1.1x1.4m, 2x1.3x1.4m and 2x1.5x1.4m.
What is the merit of lamination?
Laminating the surface of digital prints, printing a large area, and then laminating will help to protect the photos during post-press processing, cutting, or packaging. One-sided lamination of double-sided prints is not necessarily beneficial because the uncoated side may be more likely to peel off the printing color due to friction in subsequent processing.
What is the influence of lamination on the color of printed matter?
Lamination is one of the essential methods for surface finishing of printed matter. Still, lamination will have a particular influence on the color of printed matter, making the color of printed matter before and after lamination to a certain extent, which brings difficulties to color control in the printing process. Therefore, it is necessary to control and correct the printing color in advance in the pre-press image processing and printing process so that the color of the printed matter after lamination can meet the color requirements.
Generally speaking, when the matte film is applied, the full color will be reddish, the color saturation will drop to 90%, and the darkened delicate layers will merge.
How the speed of movement affects the effect of lamination?
The paper surface lamination is a composite movement in dynamic progress, and its movement speed determines the time that the paper-plastic composite stays on the hot-pressing interface on the hot-pressing interface and also determines the input temperature, pressure, and The actual effect value of the paper-plastic composite in the actual production process.
When the film temperature and pressure are fixed, the change in the speed will make the effect of the film change accordingly. Due to the limitation of the upper-temperature limit and the pressure supply, it will only change in a direction less than the set value. As the speed increases, The decrease is apparent, the hot pressing force declines, and the compounding effect deteriorates. If the running speed is too fast, the bonding is not strong, and there will be fog. If it is too slow, it will be ineffective and even foam. Therefore, the composite running speed determines the pre-coated film and the paper print time to achieve bonding. According to our experience, it is more appropriate to control the speed of folio paper by about 10-20 sheets per minute. (The pace of the electronic laminating machine should be slower due to the small hot-pressing roller)
Why does the printed matter blister sometimes?
It mainly shows that in the processes of slitting, creasing, storage, covering, pasting, die-cutting, and other methods of laminating products, sand grains, stripes, and worms appear in the dark position of the four-color overprint, the solid and the thick ink layer. Partial detachment of the paper-plastic shape and moiré-like shape.
Main reason:
1. The adhesive coating is uneven, and the adhesion is poor; there are dust and sand particles on the printed film, the environmental sanitation conditions are poor, and the water content of the paper is significant, which leads to the poor adhesion of local writing and plastic.
2. There are many times of overprinting of the solid plate, the affinity between the adhesive and the ink layer is poor when the film is laminated, the imprinted ink is too thick, and it is easy to form the partial separation of the plastic film and the ink layer, resulting in the phenomenon of "foaming." In the printing process, various auxiliary materials such as desiccant, diluent, detackifier, etc., are often added to the ink to improve the color saturation. These materials easily cause crystallization of the surface of the ink layer, and the surface of the ink layer is smooth and smooth. Stern, the adhesive cannot be wetting and affinity with it, thus affecting the paper-plastic bonding fastness. In addition, during operations such as cover, die-cutting, and indentation after lamination, if the air is not removed cleanly, it will also cause foaming.
3. When the paper and BOPP plastic film passes through the hot pressing machine, the temperature and pressure greatly influence the adhesion fastness. The two materials of paper and plastic rely on the intermediary effect of the adhesive, and the composite can only be realized under the action of hot pressing.
Under the external force of hot pressing, the movement of the adhesive molecules is accelerated, and the energy is increased, which is absorbed, diffused, penetrated by the paper and ink layer of the printed product, and has a good affinity. The thermal curing properties of the adhesive polymer resin produce cohesive force, which makes the plastic film and the printed paper form a firm bond. Appropriate compounding temperature, pressure, and time guarantee the quality of paper-plastic lamination products.
During the lamination operation, the adhesive is coated too thickly or too thinly, the hot air in the drying tunnel is not uniform, the temperature of the drying tunnel is not enough, and the adhesive concentration is not uniform, which will cause the composite product to foam. In addition, the temperature resistance of the adhesive is Poor, and the acidic influence of the adhesive can also cause foaming.
Why is there a phenomenon of poor adhesion between paper and plastic?
Central performance: In the post-printing process, such as the upper cover, indentation, secondary surface processing such as the UV film above, and cutting of the finished product, the plastic film is detached from the adhesive layer on the printed matter with a light touch, and the adhesive layer is retained. The paper surface and the surface of the ink layer cannot be well bonded to the paper fiber or the ink layer, and the paper film separation phenomenon is easy to occur at the indentations such as the cover of the book, the spine, and the mouth of the book; white cardboard, white cardboard and other packaging boxes After lamination, during die-cutting and indentation processing, due to the pressure, the paper plastic appears to be delaminated.
Main reason:
1. The plant fiber of paper and the plastic non-polar polymer (BOPP) film are two materials with entirely different properties. They rely on chemical adhesives to bond them into a firm one. The firmness of paper-plastic bonding depends on the glue so that two materials with entirely different properties, paper, and plastic, are combined into a firm one. As an intermediate medium, the adhesive must have a good affinity for plastic film, writing, and ink layer at the same time and have sufficient adhesion. The cohesive force of the bond depends on the chemical composition of the adhesive, the properties and dosage ratio of the primary and auxiliary materials, and the synthesis situation.
2. The concentration of the paper-plastic composite adhesive ratio is the key to determining the cohesive force. The essence of the paper-plastic composite is to use the adhesive as the intermediate medium; under the action of the external force of heating and pressure on the roller of the laminating machine, the BOPP film, the printed matter, and the ink layer are bi-directionally wetted, penetrated, and dried by the oxidation conjunctiva. Produces effective adsorption force to make paper and plastic bond firmly.
3. many factors affect the poor adhesion between paper and plastic. Various properties of plastic film, paper smoothness, evenness, paper moisture content, thickness of printed ink layer, amount of auxiliary materials, temperature and pressure during paper-plastic compounding, production environment sanitation, temperature, relative humidity, etc. It has a particular impact on paper-plastic composite.
What should we do if we'd like to develop laminating machine?
The status quo of my country's post-press equipment market: there is a surplus of low-end products, and mid-to-high-end products are dependent on imports, which seems to be "running the opposite direction" from the reality that printing companies' demand for post-press equipment is mainly concentrated in mid-to-high-end equipment. Therefore, China's post-press equipment Manufacturing enterprises have begun to exert their efforts to develop and manufacture domestic equipment that can replace imported equipment in the field of mid-to-high-end post-press equipment. Some equipment manufacturing companies are tirelessly developing mid-to-high-end post-printing equipment that can align with international standards and have made breakthroughs.
The market usage is extensive, and there are many types of post-press equipment. The value of the equipment is also very different, which brings specific difficulties to the research and development and promotion of post-press intelligent equipment. However, the market determines the demand. As the trend of short-run printing becomes more and more apparent, the digitization and intelligence of printing technology are rapidly advancing, and it is only a matter of time before the large-scale application of post-press intelligent equipment. On the other hand, with the rapid increase of domestic labor costs, as the most labor-intensive processing link in the printing production chain, the intelligentization of post-press processing is an inevitable choice.
